Lake Lagunitas & Alpine Lake
The day began a bit more wild and woolier then Tuesday. We spent more time reigning in and redirecting. You could say it was more like the weather; ever changing yet ever filled with unexpected melodies, rhythms, cadences, color and variations on themes.
Being in nature, being with children always reminds me of surfing the unexpected waves of the sea. If you let go and allow fun to enter, muscles you never you knew you had develop and the ability to see beauty everywhere grows deeper and more profound. 🙂
The children did as they always do when we got there, jumped up, out and instantly began being apart of the surroundings. They explored, discovered, ran, stood still in puddles, found beloved Newts, homes to create, waterfalls to rediscover and their friends to do this all with.
We had circle on the hill in the sun and it was very, very nice.
But, it was time to find those eggs they dyed on Tuesday, Michelle and I thought. So, “I have to go to the bathroom. I’ll right back” I said with a little wink to Michelle. And off I went to hide the eggs.
When I got back I called the children in because, ‘The strangest thing just happened! Trilly Trully and Trippy Troopy just saw a large Jack rabbit running in these woods. He took the eggs you dyed and left them there!!!’ “Can you find them???”
And with a little instruction off the children went to find them. Some found them fast and some took a while but they were all found. We sat at the picnic table near by looking at them, peeling them and some eating them and then, OFFF THEY WENT!
Ruby and Isabella made a great house to play in. Kuba, Jesse, Jake, Archer and I wound up playing near the creek. They were chasing me with delight until I wound up at the bouncy tree. Their love of that came right into play and the chase STOPPED!
You should have seen them trying to figure out how to make the log that goes through the V in the tree bounce from both sides. Kuba and Archer were really working at figuring this out………………………………..And Jesse and Jake really wanted to bounce. Another very comical moment(s)!
This was all winding down when Michelle came in and brought them into an adventure up the hill and around. Kuba stayed with me and worked at making a better bridge then was already there, for quite a while, until they made it back.
I went to be with the girls for a bit. They gave me tea and then we took some of the left over eggs and put it on another picnic table for the Ravens. We sat for awhile to watch and see if they would come down. Kuba then shouted. We ran over. It turns out the Ravens were taking the eggs from the table they started at!!!
The others finally came back and we realized it was time to go to Lake Alpine. We had promised Isabella, Archer and Jesse that we would go back to where they found the boat. So we kept our word. Into the bus they all went and down the hill we drove.
When we got there they instantly went out, particularly Archer but, no boat to be seen. It was past lunch time so we ate. After lunch peace entered the group until the end of the day.
All the boys went to one side of the lake and very peacefully, very cooperatively worked together building things and being in this one place. The girls, they peacefully played by the waters edge in their under wear with delight.
Many joyful, peaceful things happened but this is the gist of the day. 🙂
