Waxing Moon
Lake Lagunitas

Everyone was here and back from one holiday or another and it was DELIGHTFUL!!!   And, another mile stone day.  The group has truly, truly gelled.  Everyone was welcoming and playing with each other throughout the day.  It was so beautiful to be apart of.

When we got to Lake Lagunitas we went straight to the sunny area to have our circle.   We had some new songs and a glorious story that they were riveted by about Why we sing to the Sun every morning.  Due to this we sing to the Sun every day and give so much thanks that it rises every day, without fail, and shines upon us with all it’s gifts.

In the story the Sun had hid inside a cave and from that prompt the children, after story, dashed off looking for caves and dark holes throughout the day.

They are all so clearly four or close to it with their bodies, social play, and ability to run about.  I believe today was the first day that they, with total ease, ran and made it on the longest walk to date.

They never really even blinked an eye and had so much fun finding the Robin Redbreasts, Woodpeckers, Fairy Pools in the tree nooks, Butterflies, Butterflies, Butterflies, little fish in the lake, and frogs that we couldn’t see.

The conversations that took place today were involved and very alive and about their lives.

Isabella and Kuba had a sweet talk about Kuba’s Mom that works and Isabella’s Mom that doesn’t.   Kai and Ruby had some great conversations about Butterflies and such. Eli delighted in taking his clothes off and being in the water.

I made a little boat out of the plants at the lake. The children gathered their wishes from all around made out of daises, cones, grasses and the like.   We then put them on the boat and sailed them away.  By days end Eli went out in the water to get the boat that did not sail very far due to no wind, got it and brought it back. He was very proud!!!

While we were getting ready to leave Kuba went off. We were concerned where he was.  I went over and there he was sitting in the shade. I asked him what he was doing ” I’m relaxing” he said.  He looked just like Ferdinand the Bull, sitting and just smelling the flowers.

Ruby, Isabella, Kai, Eli, and Kuba all played with laughter, care and love.  We  all were so delighted as we sat quietly watching these very large Butterflies drink water from the mud for quite some time.  The air was filled almost all day with the sound of birds. It was such a joy being surrounded by Spring cacophony and life showing up all around us.

Eli was not with us today.

Today was Kuba’s Four year old birthday and Isabella had brought cup cakes and I brought Strawberries.  The children were very delighted to celebrate Kuba and he was happy to receive it all!  This also seemed like a great Milestone type of day due to the changes in social interactions.

Kai started the day with his typical joy over playing with Isabella and Isabella ALWAYS has a great time with whoever is sitting next to her in the bus. Therefore, on the way up to Lake Lagunitas Kai and Isabella were FILLED with fun and laughter while Ruby and Kuba were a bit more subdued.

Kai and Isabella played together and sat together for most of the morning and then the changes started to take place. After circle Isabella and Ruby were having such a good time gathering leaves and making things to eat and setting up a home.  Kuba was HAPPILY playing with a California Newt with Linda or sometimes on his own and Kai sat looking down a bit sad. He looked EXACTLY like the little Black Bunny in a book I have read to the children who would sit and look JUST LIKE HE DID when he was “thinking.”  What was he thinking? the book would ask?  And so Isabella and Ruby asked Kai because he looked so sad like the little Rabbit in the book ( the little Rabbit in the book was sad because he always wanted to have his best friend be his best friend). Well, after they asked him they began to play together. Little by little throughout the day Kai and Kuba would play more and more and all the children mixed their playing together up and included each other.

When it was time to take our adventure we climbed up a very big off trail hill and then we brought out the rope. Kuba and Kai LOVED this and they became the engine. They had sticks that made them go faster and faster until the end of the day. They worked/played together SOOOO beautifully, tenderly, respectfully and thoughtfully as they were the Engine that went fast then would stop. They took very good care of the caboose, Ruby and Isabella.

At the end of the day coming back Ruby and Isabella were not so interested in this game anymore.  During that time Isabella wanted to hold Ruby’s hand but Ruby did not want to hold her hand. Isabella looked a little sad but then, it all changed!!! and they were holding hands again and with big smiles.  Oh how great to be true to what you are feeling and wanting in the moment and then being able to change your mind and be so well received!

The story today was a birthday story of sorts.  There was a bird that dropped a seed from it’s mouth. The seed was nourished and nurtured by the wind, soil, sun and rain. It was protected by great trees during the harshest of weather. As the little tree grew the birds and animals loved to play in it/with it and when it got so very, very old the winds blew and it tumbled down only to go back into Mother Earths arms with the help of the many friends, like the ant people and the mushroom people.

Today we saw ant children and were blown around by the adventuresome Wind children.  We went to go see a great big Oak tree that had lived it’s grand life and then was blown back down to the Earth as well as right into the Lake.

The children found a fairy house and built it up all together.  Kuba and Kai played with chopping wood and Isabella and Ruby played at the Fairy house and finding ants and Tree Sap.

The day was so very, very precious, filled with great social/emotional growth. Kai got picked up a little early to go and celebrate his Mothers bday on this day and the rest of us drew our picture of the day of many of the things we saw and experienced: California newts, many Woodpeckers, Wind, Bay leaves, Ants, Tree Sap, Fairy Homes, Turtles, Rain at the beginning of the day, Clouds changing over our heads, blue sky, gray sky, laughter, games and fun.

Eli is on holiday and Ruby came with her Daddy today!  Kuba was back from holiday as well as Isabella with stories from their adventures and Kai had a story about how he got burnt on his leg from sticky rice!!! Linda was back as well!

The cool air and winds were picking up again from out very hot weekend and beginning of the week while the clouds were playing with filling the sky then opening up for our Great Sun to shine warmth down upon us.

We had a story that they heard earlier in the year that used a real turtle shell for the story and we heard it again with joy.  This was to lead us back to our Turtle friends that we had so much fun with a few weeks ago.  Prior to going on a search for them the children were very involved in a game: Kuba was King of the Land and his Queen was Ruby. Together they tended to all their people, Kai and Isabella, with care and grace.

Up the mountain and down the mountain they went.  Kai was REALLY having a grand time with Isabella the first half of the day and they were filled with laughter and grand fun.

We made our way up the great big hill and Isabella’s strong legs from her last weeks hiking came in handy!!!  When we came close to the place where the turtles were a man said he tried, tried to walk ever so quietly near the turtles but no matter how quiet he was the turtles went away. He also said that last week he had seen 5 otters playing there.  So, we did our best to sneak, sneak, sneak up with our quietest selves but alas! there were NO Turtles. Not even one. We thought if we sat and ate our lunch they would come back like they have done in the past but, no turtles ever showed up. However, Crows and Swallows did.  As we sat down to eat Ruby was very involved with wanting to sit quietly upon the logs and have Linda feed her her lunch.  Kuba was FILLED with stories, Isabella was winding down and stayed the rest of the day just eating in peace and ease and Kai, he ate and then he and Ruby went on to the “boat”, a log that last time we were here they helped Linda “sail away on.”  They sat for a very long time “fishing” right next to each other so very, very, very sweetly. Kuba, Isabella and I spent a great deal of time watching this Black Bird walk all around one side of the hill in front of us eating, drinking, hoping, and exploring. The curiosity was, “Can it fly???”  So, we watched and watched and watched and finally, IT FLEW!!!!  More Black birds came in and then there were a lot of Crows with very curious and interesting behaviors. We then found a Lady Bug and had so much fun with it. Kuba loved trying to pick it up but alas, it flew away!!!

We then watched the clouds and found Pictures to our Questions above our heads.

Creation of timelessness took place and there was a beautiful moment of rest and release that was found.
On the way over to this place Kai, Isabella and I were following some tracks and trying to figure out what they were. Kai then playfully made some funny tracks and said “Who made those!!!” 🙂

Back in the bus they really wanted to draw our pictures of the day. We didn’t have time but we did talk all about the pictures from last week, the other Tender Trackers pictures and what we would draw if we could. That last part was while we were driving.
Sweet, Sweet day it was.
