Spring is Just Around the Corner

Song Sparrow, Melospiza melodia
I am continually amazed at what a hit this story is. So simple, yet children show great delight and excitement over it. Parents have told me that children really DO look around corners to see if spring is there.
Listen to the story here:
Playing with the story:
- At different times of the day, listen to the birds. Notice whether or not the birds are in all the trees. How big or small are all the birds you see?
- Go on a walk down your street and see which trees have blossoms and which do not. Draw pictures of the different trees you see. Gather the different blossoms. Use your sense to feel and smell the blossoms and the trees. Do the trees smell different in the spring than they did in winter?
- Do you know your neighbors?
This story and others can be found in my book, Tales from Earth to Sky.
