Marin Tender Tracks Jan. 15, 2015 Day 32
Waning Moon
Bon Tempe Dam
Everett and Velia had a morning where they really, really wanted and needed to be with their parents so, they came and then left in their parents loving arms. We all sent them Love and Light and then carried on with our day, which turned out to be very beautiful. Due to computer technical difficulties I am unable to show you the photos of some of the wonders that we found however, I have found pictures on the web that will show you what we saw, just not in the location that we did. I look forward to when these glitches are remedied and you can see the amazing natural world treasures that we discovered right where we found them!!
The day was misty and beautiful. The first thing that we noticed when we got to Bon Tempe was how high the water was and that ducks were swimming now where once we played!
They got out of the bus stretched out, explored and went back to the big rock that they had remembered playing on and finding Sheep Sorrel to eat. Nico was very clear that he enjoyed eating Sheep Sorrel far more then bitter plantain! Both were all around and it was so enjoyable to see them remembering as well as eating up natures food. We did talk about what plants to eat and when not to such as, the plants are friends have peed on! There was also more learning about where to pee outside and where not to.
Ariel really liked being on top of this rock and wanted circle there so, we brought everything up from down below and had circle. And then, off to an adventure. At first they did not want to move from where we were but it seemed like a very good idea to move some of the energy floating around so down the road we went. I had thought that going to the other side of the lake that we could see from the rock would be a great potential. At first we were trying to figure out how to do that. I guided them down the path but then, we did not get very far when we heard the singing of frogs.
When we listened to where the sound was it brought us to look towards the hill side. The boys started to climb straight up the hill, with little success, but Thea found a pathway up and scurred that way. Nico followed her and then the rest of the boys, after a bit, decided that they would be willing to try her way. They were able to get up with ease. Linsey helped Hana and Ariel get up the hill. Nico saw a beautiful Buckeye tree to climb so we made it towards that then we found a Sun spot, sat down to eat and then afterwards….great play ensued.
Some of the wonders we saw today were California Slender Salamanders, California Scorpions and Jerusalem Cricket /Potato Bugs.
Before we left we were blessed with the viewing of two beautiful Red Tailed Hawks
soaring above our heads. As we walked down the hill some of the children came across, by lifting up logs to find earths friends, a Jerusalem Cricket. We all stopped and spent time with this incredible being. Some thought it was a spider and others just weren’t sure.
I had two main highlights today that warmed my heart:
Jai was struggling a bit earlier and I do not think was well pleased with me. Linsey had been helping him earlier in the day and after lunch he snuggled right into her lap. She wound up singing to him and telling him a great story , a healing story just for him. He then came over to my lap, very momentarily, and told me of the great story Linsey told him and how she sang to him and then went back to snuggle up again. My next highlight was when Theron was having a hard time and was very upset. I stayed calm and pointed to the tree’s needles that were hanging above our heads. I shared with him how soft they were and how they would love to feel him pet them. He completely stilled his body and emotions, became mesmerized by the tree and petted the leaves. He was settled shortly after that and we were able to go down the hill.
