Welcome to Tender Tracks

Please get in touch with us in February 2020 to find out about current programs and sign-ups for the 2020/2021 school year.

Tender Tracks is a Forest Preschool located in Fairfax, California. We serve children ages 3 to 5 in our September to June outdoor preschool, and children 6 and older in our Summer Camp programs.

We facilitate, guide and support each child’s inherent awe, wonder, curiosity and imagination towards a greater relationship to Self and All of Life.

The Tender Tracks mission is to nurture positive relationships with the nature of self, nature of others, and the nature of all beings great and small. We aim to encourage the natural curiosity, awe and wonder of children, and to aid in the development of life-long learning habits through the art of observation, listening and questioning.

Please call or write Director Wendolyn Bird to learn more about this one-of-a-kind school: 415-419-5274 or Or, you may click here to join our enrollment wait list, and we will contact you with more information.

Tender Trackers have a lot of fun while building a bond with the natural world
When my youngest son, Dylan, was part of a Tender Tracks group, he came home each week settled, calm and full of stories from his day in nature. Through Wendolyn’s patience and her own deep connection with the earth, Dylan received the gift of truly becoming comfortable with nature. He now carries that connection with him every day, and no doubt there is joy in his heart when he is outside exploring.
While attending Tender Tracks, my son Gabriel’s awareness of the natural world has blossomed. In his creative play he incorporates the seasons of the year, what animals are there, and other elements of the environment around him. He has become more gentle with plants and animals, and even with his little sister. He looked forward to Tender Tracks every week, and came home happy and exhausted.
